![]() Ketchikan’s Borough Assembly meetings at 5:30 p.m. But this one is somewhat unique: borough officials recommend awarding the nearly $60,000 contract to R&M because the Ketchikan-based engineering firm has offered to do more than $350,000 worth of civil engineering work at no cost to the borough. Sole-source contracts are frequently scrutinized, since they bypass normal purchasing processes. The assembly will consider a sole-source contract with R&M Engineering for design work. The Borough Assembly will also consider taking a step towards reconfiguring Ketchikan baseball and softball fields following voters’ approval of a nearly $6.7 million bond measure in October. Finance officials say many of the projects, which had until recently been on hold, are made possible by federal COVID-19 aid.
